Mail Server Update 10/9/07 @ 4:00 pm
The migration to the MagicMail e-mail and web server WILL be happening tomorrow 10/10/07. It will begin at 10:00am.
We are hoping for quick and smooth transition to the new server.
We are excited about this change. We believe you will appreciate many of the enhancements available with the new server and invite you to explore your options when the Magic Mail log on is available online.
After migration you will need to use your full e-mail address (username@ruralnetwork.net) and password to log into your e-mail account. If you receive a username and password error please call Technical Support (414-8372 or 800-504-8887), for assistance in making the change to MagicMail. This DOES NOT effect the way you connect to the internet.
In most e-mail programs the changes can be made by following these steps Tools > Account > Properties > Servers and adding @ruralnetwork.net after your user name in the Account Name field.
As always, please call the RNS office (414-3000 or 888-355-4767) or technical support (414-8372 or 800-504-8887) if you have any questions or problems.

Old News
May 20, 2004 - Syringa, our backbone provider for Idaho and Oregon Internet, will be upgrading their main Cisco router this evening. Expect a downtime of about 15 minutes sometime between 10 pm and 2 am.
February 25, 2004 - The conversion of our Internet backbone to the Syringa Network is complete. Those DSL customers who did not change the IP numbers on their routers and modems should check that their applications are still working as expected through our static network address translations. Call our tech support line if you would like to update your DSL router or modem to a new Syringa IP number.
Also, email from certain Internet hosts may be delayed for several hours until the Internet Master root servers acknowledge our new IP numbers.
February 23, 2004 - We have nearly completed the move of all of our servers and customers over to the Syringa Internet backbone. Unfortunately, there was a hiccup in this process with certain changes we made last night. Users dialing into the 414-5600 and 414-1611 numbers were not able to authenticate their usersnames and passwords to establish a connection. We redid the routing for the authentication server and restored local Weiser dial-up service at about 10:30 this morning. Sorry for the inconvenience.
